UP Tacloban salutes Professor Emeritus Merlie M. Alunan for “Hubad: Ester Tapia,” Best Translated Book in English in the 42nd National Book Awards. Through her translations of Cebuano writer Ester Tapia’s poems, Alunan continues her advocacy to promote regional writing in the national arena. “Hubad: Ester Tapia” is a joint publication of UP Press and the UP Institute of Creative Writing. Copies of the prizewinning book are available at Kaaradman Library and Bookshop of the Leyte Samar Heritage Center.
