UP Tacloban held DIAsfrutar, its inaugural Spanish Day Celebration, on 25 April
2025 at the Multi-purpose Building. Organized by the Spanish 1 (Elementary Spanish) class under Assistant Professor Gian Paulo Paglinawan, the event celebrated the richness of the Spanish language and culture. A highlight of the program was a talk by Assistant Professor Efmer Agustin of UP Tacloban’s Sentro ng Wikang Filipino on the enduring yet often overlooked influences of Spanish on the Waray language.
