Using a differences-in-differences model and Labor Force Survey (LFS) data from 2011 to 2016, Dr. Kim found that the average wage in Eastern Visayas rose by about 4.5% relative to non-affected regions after Typhoon Haiyan but the probability of being employed in the region decreased by 1% and average working hours dropped by 30 minutes.
