UP Tacloban’s Gender and Development Program, in partnership with the Division of Humanities and Ugnayan ng Pahinungód, is organizing a gender sensitivity and self-defense training for 20 out-of-school youths on 22 March 2025 at Brgy. New Kawayan, Tacloban City.
This initiative aims to equip out-of-school youth, especially adolescent girls, with essential knowledge and practical skills to protect themselves from gender-based violence.
In the Philippines, girls are more likely to be out-of-school than boys, often due to pregnancy, early marriage, and domestic responsibilities. These factors also increase their vulnerability to sexual and gender-based violence.
This training is part of UP Tacloban’s National Women’s Month celebration.
