UP Tacloban prepares for Typhoon Pepito

6 November 2024

Advisory to the UP Tacloban Community

Based on DOST PAGASA’s forecast, the effects of typhoon Pepito will be felt in Eastern Visayas on Saturday, 16 November 2024. The Tacloban City government suspended classes and office work this afternoon to allow everyone time to prepare.

Dormitory residents who opted not to travel home and the dormitory managers are temporarily staying at the 3rd floor of the Library Building until the typhoon has passed Eastern Visayas. Some UPTC students who live in boarding houses in the city may request to join the dormers in this temporary quarters, if there are no government-designated evacuation centers in or near their area. Government-designated evacuation centers are expected to be better provisioned and more closely monitored by the concerned government units.

All UPTC faculty, staff, and students are advised to monitor DOST PAGASA’s typhoon bulletins, secure basic provisions for the duration of the typhoon, and follow all safety protocols.

Keep safe, everyone.
