BA Psychology program hosts 5th Eastern Visayas Psychology Conference

The BA Psychology program of UP Tacloban’s Division of Social Sciences held the 5th Eastern Visayas Psychology Conference (EVPC) on 10-11 May 2024 in hybrid mode — online on the first day and in person at the UP Tacloban campus on the second day.

More than 300 Psychology students and professionals from Holy Infant College of Tacloban Inc., Samar State University, St. Scholastica’s College of Tacloban Inc., and UP Tacloban College attended the conference, which carried the theme “Pamati SangkAI: Mind Matters! AI and Psychology.”

UP Assistant Vice President for Digital Transformation (Dx) Associate Professor Peter Sy delivered a keynote address on “AI and Psychology: Reshaping Practice, Research and Education.” The other plenary speakers were UP Tacloban’s System Administrator and Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics chairperson Dr. John Paul Yusiong, Ateneo de Manila University lecturer and Social and Behavior Change Team Lead for RenewHealth Dr. Camille Therese Yusay, and Psychological Association of the Philippines president Dr. Ver Reyes.

On the second day of the conference participants attended workshops facilitated by Psychology professionals and Saykwiz, a Psychology quiz bee.

The first EVPC was held by UP Tacloban in 2010. At the time the event was known as the Regional Philippine Association of Psychology Junior Affiliates Conference.
